We follow the National Curriculum throughout the school and ensure that each child is allowed to work at his/her own rate. Work is set according to ability and not age or year group. In this way we aim to maximise each individual child's academic potential. All children are encouraged to work independently and every effort is made to incorporate each individual child's particular interests into lesson planning. We believe in this way children can become more enthusiastic and interested in schoolwork and can therefore be encouraged to achieve much more.
The Curriculum consists of:
English Art and Design Technology
Science Physical Education
In the infant class, greater emphasis is placed upon basic numeracy and literacy although all subjects are also covered.
In addition to timetabled music lessons, we may be able to offer optional individual tuition for pupils who are interested which will take place by arrangement. We can offer guitar lessons, keyboard lessons and some wind instrument lessons if there is enough interest. We have a Dance teacher who works with the children once a week.
Physical education takes place once a week and is either at school or on the playing field at the back of the building. We also swim at certain times of the year. Teachers and lifeguards employed by the leisure centre are provided.
